Albany, NY (WIBX) - The Department of Environmental Conservation is making some changes to its 2012 deer hunting regulations.

Among the many changes to help implement the Five-Year Deer Management Plan is a longer bow season for the Southern Zone in Westchester County.

Also added is a late bow hunting season to the Northern Zone, concurrent with muzzle loader season.

The Northern Zone will also allow doe tags to be used in all seasons, simplifying regulations and increasing hunting opportunities.

In addition, antler restrictions will be expanded in several Wildlife Management Units. Further changes may occur, depending on the needs of the state's deer hunters.
