New Hartford, NY (WIBX) - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will host a free sports fishing clinic this coming Saturday, June 4th from 9:30 am to 2pm at the Washington Mills Athletic Park, located in New Hartford. This free clinic will teach participants everything from how to bait a hook to casting for accuracy and distance. If you don't have a fishing pole, no problem; poles and bait will be supplied.

The Washington Mills Athletic Park is located at the intersection of Oneida Street and Roberts Road and the event is happening rain or shine.

Attendees don't even need a New York State fishing licence to participate, as New York State is waiving the need for a fishing licence for all participants of this free clinic.

New York State is also offering a free fishing weekend statewide during the last weekend of June. On Saturday and Sunday, June 25th and 26th, anyone can fish waters without purchasing a New York State fishing licence.  Normally, anyone aged 16 or old is required to carry a licence to fish within New York State.
