Albany, NY (WIBX) - The Department of Environmental Conservation is working with the Student Conservation Association this summer by providing volunteer stewards to help Forest Rangers with patrolling parks.

The goal is to help in educating the public about park safety, DEC rules, and following the "Leave No Trace" rule while hiking and camping.

State Senator Mark Grisanti says, "I am confident this will be a worth-while education experience for everyone."

Most of the assistants will serve through Labor Day, though some will remain working through Columbus Day in more popular areas.

For more information regarding the area's resources, visit the DEC's website here.
