CHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y. (AP) — An 84-year-old man is seriously injured and three others are hurt after authorities say a deck collapsed onto a concrete patio at a Rockland County home.

The Journal News (http://lohud.us/29jKMmA ) reports it happened Monday just after 11:30 a.m. in Chestnut Ridge. Ramapo police say officers found that the rear deck had detached from the second-floor of the home while the four victims were on it.

Police say it appears the deck was attached to a beam that had rotted.

Authorities say the man who owns the home has leg and head injuries, his 54-year-old son suffered ankle and facial injuries and a woman injured her leg and back. Police say a home health aide also had a leg and shoulder injury.
