Democratic Candidate for the 22nd New York Congressional District race, Heath Phillips, has announced he's stepping aside from the race.

Phillips made the announcement via Twitter late Thursday night. In the tweet he writes, "Due to unexpected family issues I will be stepping aside from running for #NY22 seat."

The now former candidate, Phillips, is from Cortland County and intended to face Anthony Brindisi in a primary for the Democratic nomination. This decision leaves Anthony Brinidisi as the lone challenger of Congresswoman Tenney for the time being.
