CLARENCE, N.Y. (AP) — Service areas along the Thruway are holding road safety demonstrations.

The demonstrations Thursday are designed to educate drivers about avoiding the "blind spots" around large commercial trucks. Rest stop visitors will be able climb into tractor trailers so they can judge truckers' blind spots for themselves.

The "Safety Breaks" will be taking place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following service areas: Plattekill, New Baltimore, Chittenango, Clarence, Clifton Springs and Clifton Park along the Northway.

Workers from the Thruway Authority and trooper will help staff each site.
