If you were among the thousands caught in traffic and lines to get to the State Fair this weekend you were not alone.

Traffic was diverted between two exits and at one point the line of cars just waiting to park at the state fair was more than an hour and forty-five minutes long on Saturday. But it was apparently for a good reason.

On Saturday, August 30, 2014 The Great New York State Fair broke an all-time record for single day attendance.  According the fairground officials, 120,617 people came through the gates.  That is one hundred more than the previous record - set twenty-five years ago.

Organizers are crediting the good weather and popular musical acts for the high turnout.

It may not have accounted for all of the traffic, but certainly some had come just to see this year's butter sculpture.  The sculpture has been a tradition at the fair since 1969:
