The owner of the Los Angeles Clippers is being banned from the NBA for life over racist comments he made over the weekend.

In a now-public conversation with his girlfriend that she recorded and released, Donald Sterling advised his girlfriend against associating with African Americans.  The Commissioner of the National Basketball Association, Adam Silver, subsequently fined Sterling $2.5 million and banned him for life from the NBA.

Was the punishment too severe or is it justified?
