Utica, NY (WIBX) - New York can't take a $13 billion dollar packed punch.

That according to State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli who says 200,000 of New York's unemployment benefits recipients stand to lose their benefits this month with the expiration of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits.

He says the state's economy stands to suffer a $12.9 billion dollar negative economic impact if the EUC benefits are not reinstated by congress.

He is urging congress to extend those benefits.

DiNapoli's analysis also shows about 400,000 New Yorkers could lose their benefits by May 2011.
