State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli is applauding state lawmakers for passing a bill that calls for tighter oversight of special education providers.

The legislation mandates the Comptroller's Office to audit all of the more than 300 preschool special education providers by March of 2018.

DiNapoli says numerous audits by his office found widespread fraud and abuse of special education services to preschool children.

He's urging Governor Cuomo to sign the bill to ensure taxpayer monies are spent as intended and children are no longer deprived of resources intended for them.
