A group of doctors says that simultaneously walking and texting, a practice to which few people admit doing themselves, is becoming more of an issue in society.

The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons finds that 78-percent of adults in the United States say that the issue is "serious," but most do not admit to doing it themselves.  A majority, the group says, finds the practice annoying.

Only 29-percent of those surveyed admit to "distracted walking," an activity that can interfere with one's safety, especially if done while walking across a street or in a public venue.

The group says that women ages 55 and over are the most likely to suffer serious injuries. According to the survey, millennials, although they are most likely to be distracted while walking, are the least likely to suffer injury.
