The body of 31-year Crystal Grobelny of Moravia, New York was found on a road in Dryden, New York on Sunday, November 10, 2013.

Now the Tompkins County District Attorney says that Grobelny was fatally injured when she fell out of a car.

Tompkins County Sheriffs said last week that they received a call about an unresponsive woman found on the side of the road.  When they arrived she was already dead.

An autopsy was performed at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton.

Police questioned the man believed to be her boyfriend, 36- year old Arthur Basso, who told investigators that they were driving and she jumped out of the moving car on her own. He is claiming that he went to look for her but could not find her.

Basso said that they had celebrated the one-year anniversary of their first date the night before.  Police are still investigating.  In the meantime, Basso is being charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it.  He pleaded not guilty to the charge on November 18.

Grobelny's six year-old daughter, Whitney, is now said to be staying with her father, Devon Grobelny, of Genoa, from whom Crystal was reportedly separated.  The former couple shared custody of the child.
