CICERO, N.Y. (AP) — Police have officially confirmed the identity of a central New York man whose body was dismembered and burned after he was slain late last year.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that DNA testing was used to positively identify the victim as 29-year-old Aikeem Hudgins of Syracuse. Authorities had told his family that they believed he was the victim but had to wait for the test results before his identity was confirmed.

Investigators say 28-year-old Corey Slattery lured Hudgins to Slattery's apartment in Cicero in December and strangled him. Authorities say Slattery used a chain saw to dismember Hudgins' body before burning some of the remains.

Slattery is jailed on second-degree murder charges.

A motive for the slaying hasn't been determined.
