Marcy, NY (WIBX) - The Rome Police Department is embarking on a unique program for Central New York, putting police officers on community patrol to help deter crime.

Four officers will be dedicated to community coverage, including going out on more foot patrols talking to residents and business owners "one on one."  Based largely on the "Broken Windows Theory," the program is being given a ninety day test period.  Detective Commander Timothy Bates will be on "First Look" this morning to discuss the topic.   Do you think that the initiativet will work?  Comment on our Facebook page or vote in today's Question of the Day:
