With electronic devices becoming ever popular in the household, new studies show that more than half of all parents in the U.S. have had an electronic device damaged by their children. In the age of information we live in, it is not uncommon to find a cell phone, laptop or tablet in many homes in the U.S. As we all know, these devices can be expensive. Especially if you have small children around the house. When children see someone using a mobile device, the attraction begins. Shiny covers, bright flashing lights and easy access to video games turn these devices into magnets for children.

A study by warranty protection company SquareTrade says most accidents that damage mobile phones, laptops and tablets involve food an drink being spilled on the devices. The mishaps lead to $2.8 billion in repairs and replacements annually.

The report also shows nearly a third of kids have accidentally called, messaged or purchased something when they were not allowed to.
