New York State is providing $55,000 to fund domestic violence services in the Southern Tier.

$10,000 each is being awarded to A New Hope Center in Owego, RISE Domestic Violence Services in Endicott and the YWCA in Binghamton while $25,000 is going to the Crime Victims Assistance Center in Binghamton.

A New Hope Center will be able to provide domestic violence services through shelter and support.

RISE will provide legal services to victims as well as continuing to provide shelter, counseling and education.

The YWCA in Binghamton will also continue to provide services like shelter and counseling.

The Crime Victims Assistance Center will also be able to provide civil and criminal domestic violence legal services to victims as well as offering education and awareness programs.

The announcement of the grant awards by New York Senator Fred Akshar coincides with October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
