He once said he never received a paycheck that didn't come from baseball.

After 64 years in the world of baseball in some fashion, Don Zimmer passed away on Wednesday at the age of 83.

His family said Zim went peacefully at a hospital in Florida.

With nicknames including 'Gerbil' and 'Popeye' Zimmer's was once a player-manager for the Cincinnati Reds. He managed the Padres, Red Sox, Rangers and Cubs and also served as a bench coach for eight different franchises including the New York Yankees during their stretch of four World Series titles in the late 1990's and 2000.
