Don’t Expect the Grammy’s to Feature Joe Bonamassa

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled for Sunday night in Los Angeles and the music that basically started it all, isn’t expected to be featured on the CBS broadcast.

UPDATE: See Hart and Bonamassa’s Award Category From Afternoon Broadcast. Did they Win?

Joe Bonamassa (of New Hartford, NY) and Beth Hart are nominated for their Blues album, “Seesaw” and unfortunately, the category of Best Blues Album doesn’t seem to make the ‘pop culture viewer cut’ as assessed by network consultants who are striving for mega-ratings.   The Blues category, which clearly influences all Rock and Pop categories as well as Country music, will be announced earlier in the day with categories like Americana and Folk.  Blues enthusiasts are also short-changed by the fact that the Recording Academy reduced the Blues Music Category to just one award, “Best Blues Album.”

This is Bonamassa’s first-ever Grammy nomination and for fans, that’s long overdue and simply put, a travesty.  Furthermore, Bonamassa’s album “An Acoustic Evening At The Vienna Opera House” totally should have been nominated, as well; but, with only one award for the genre, I guess it’s tough to get two nominations.

Check back later on Sunday and we’ll update you on Joe’s fate.
