Governor Cuomo is reminding New Yorkers that in order to vote in the September primary elections voters must be registered by August 16. On the 48th anniversary of President Lyndon Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, Cuomo also released data showing that New York's new online MyDMV was used by more than 200,000 New Yorkers since its launch last year.

"With the launch of our online and electronic voter registration systems, New York knocked down barriers that kept some residents from participating in the democratic process," Governor Cuomo said. "As we approach another election season, I encourage New Yorkers to make sure they are registered to vote to cast their ballot in September."

The new online registration was announced last August and marked the first time New Yorkers were able to complete their registration online.
