Utica, NY (WIBX) - The State Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that the Route 790/49/River Road exit ramp to Routes 8 and 12 South, Route 5 West and Downtown Utica is closed for construction.

The project involves repairs to the backwall of the ramp bridge that crosses over the Thruway and the expressway.

Additional work being done during the closure includes a new signal at the Wal-Mart-Riverside exit, a signal upgrade at the Cosby Road intersection and 300-feet of concrete replacement.

Motorists wishing to access Route 8, Route 12 south, Route 790 or Route 5 west from 790 westbound, Route 5 westbound or Leland Avenue will be directed to use the Route 8 north, Route 12 north exit to the Glass Factory Road, then south on Route 12.

The ramp will be closed for about five weeks.
