Dozens Graduate From Broome Law Enforcement Academy
Forty-four recruits have graduated from this year's Broome County Law Enforcement Academy.
The graduation ceremony was held Friday afternoon at the Forum Theatre in downtown Binghamton.
This year's academy, which started in March, was almost four weeks longer than last year's training program.
The graduates will work for 15 agencies in the Southern Tier and central New York.
The greatest number of new officers - 20 - will join the Binghamton police department. Six will work for the Tioga County Sheriff's Office.
Broome County Sheriff David Harder said the academy provided 1370 hours of training. That's more than double the state's minimum requirement for law enforcement officers.
