Driver Of Deadly Baltimore School Bus Crash Had History Of Accidents, Seizures

BALTIMORE (AP) — Federal investigators say the man driving a Baltimore school bus during a fatal crash last month had been in at least a dozen car accidents in the past five years and had a history of seizures and other medical issues.

The National Transportation Safety Board issued a two-page preliminary report Wednesday detailing its findings in the crash that killed the driver and five other people.

Glenn Chappell almost certainly should not have been behind the wheel when he struck the rear of a Ford Mustang on the morning of Nov. 1 and then collided with a Maryland Transportation Authority bus. Eleven people suffered injuries in the catastrophic wreck.

The NTSB report says Chappell was speeding and had medical conditions including diabetes, hypertension and frequent seizures.
