Utica Police have made an arrest in the death of Christopher Bush, who was shot and killed on the 1300 block of Brinkerhoff Avenue last month.

18-year old Elijah Brown of Utica is charged with second-degree murder.

Chief Mark Williams says the homicide was the result of an apparent drug deal gone bad. Police believe Bush was possibly looking to trade drugs and money for a handgun.

Williams says the arrest was made following an investigation by the UPD's Criminal Investigation Division, with assistance from the Oneida County District Attorney's Office.

He says cellphone records led to Brown as a suspect.

State Police divers are searching the Mohawk River near the North Genesee Street Bridge, looking for the handgun used in the shooting.
