Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Board of Legislators voted to continue to fund Mohawk Valley EDGE, approving nearly $350,000 to help promote economic and industrial growth within the county. The funds will also go towards GLDC staffing costs as well as developing the Griffiss Airfield.

Meanwhile, the county's Youth and Education Committee has rejected the union contract agreement between Mohawk Valley Community College and its teachers by a vote of 7 to 1.

The three year deal would have included annual pay raises of 3.9 percent, 2.2 percent and 2.5 percent.

This means the college and teachers will head back to negotiations, according to legislator Steven Roefaro.

The county has final say on the contracts because is provides one-third of the college's budget, Roefaro said.
