Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have decided to release star wideout DeSean Jackson.

The Eagles could not find another team that was willing to make a deal to trade for the high priced Jackson, who is due a base salary of more than $10 million.

Coming off a solid year where he amassed over 1,300 yards and scored nine touchdowns, the Eagles felt Jackson was more of a luxury after re-signing wideouts Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper.

There's also the issue of Jackson's off the field issues. Yahoo! Sports cited a NJ.com story that claimed the Eagles were concerned that Jackson has connections to a street gang in Los Angeles.

That story says that a man with connections to that street gang was charged with a 2010 murder is also a member of Jackson's Jaccpot record label, and that Jackson has photos with the suspect on Instagram.

The story adds that Jackson allegedly flashed a gang sign used by members in those photos and even used it in a game against the Washington Redskins last season.

So now the Eagles will simply release Jackson and get nothing in return for one of the top receiving talents in the NFL. He is now an unrestricted free agent, which means he is free to sign with any team willing to take a chance on him.
