Espada Gets Five Years In Prison

Disgraced ex-State Senator Pedro Espada Jr. was sentenced to five years in prison for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Bronx health clinic he founded.

The former Democratic lawmaker was sent to jail immediately.

As he arrived in court this morning, Espada told reporters he will vow to keep fighting.

The 59-year-old is trying to get a new trial.

He claims the federal judge in his case improperly pressured members of the jury during deliberations.
