Additional Information

The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble will present a free concert on Sunday, April 10th at 7pm at Grace Church, 6 Elizabeth Street in Utica. The program will include a variety of music.

The 35 member ensemble, created in 1988, is a permanent-in-residence brass band sponsored by Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences. Members include SU faculty, staff, and students, doctors from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, and other musicians from Central New York. Local musicians who play with SUBE include Loyal Mitchell, Scott Rutledge, and Bert Bookhout.

The program will include a variety of music including "Intrada" (based on "A Mighty Fortress), "Year Of The Dragon" by Philip Sparke, and "Midway March" by John Williams.

SUBE performs about 16 concerts a year, including "Holidays at Hendricks," broadcast on WCNY and its affiliates. It plays at the Syracuse University Commencement; has recorded CDs and DVDs; and has twice placed first nationally in the North American Brass Band (NABBA) Championships.

The concert is free and open to the public. All are welcome!
