The Rome Historical Society’s Active Trails program will present a bike tour of the history of Rome Cemetery, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. Participants must provide their own bicycle and safety equipment. Those interested can meet in front of the museum.

This is a free program. Participants should dress comfortably. The tour will feature low impact biking and an educational talk. Come learn about some of Rome’s important leaders buried in Rome Cemetery!

The Active Trails program is funded by the National Park Foundation. Rome Historical Society and Fort Stanwix National Monument have worked together to provide innovative programming this summer to the Rome community. The goal of the program is to encourage the community to use local trails for learning, fun, and fitness. The program is a collaboration of RHS, Fort Stanwix National Monument, the City of Rome, and the Tri Valley YMCA.

Other topics that will be presented this summer at later tours include the history of the lower landing, Italian heritage in Rome, and the siege of Fort Stanwix.
