Ex-Investigator Faces Prison Time For Hit-And-Run Fatality

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A former investigator for a central New York district attorney's office faces prison time after pleading guilty in a fatal hit-and-run case.

In a plea deal with a special prosecutor, 38-year-old Peter Rauch will be sentenced to no more than two to six years in prison.

Rausch pleaded guilty Friday to vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. He admitted in court that he was intoxicated when he struck and killed 18-year-old Seth Collier early on the morning of March 21.

Rauch was an investigator for the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office at the time.

His county-owned vehicle was found in the parking lot of a social club about a block away from the accident scene. Rauch was found hours later at a home in Liverpool, where he also was a part-time police officer.
