Many in Major League Baseball were hit with shocking and sad news this week as it's been reported that former outfielder Darryl Hamilton was shot to death by his girlfriend in an apparent murder-suicide.

Hamilton, 50, played with five teams over the course of his 13-year MLB career which ended with a stint as a Mets from 1999-2001 when he retired. Recently, he's worked as an analyst/commentator with MLB Network.

According to reports, police in Texas believe 44-year-old Monica Jordan - who is the mother of the couple's 14-month old child - shot Hamilton several times before turning the gun on herself. The baby was found unharmed in the same house and is in the care of child protective services.
