SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — New York authorities say the former treasurer of a suburban Syracuse parent-teacher organization has pleaded guilty to a felony and promised to repay over $27,000 she stole.

According to the Post-Standard , Marie Carlisle entered the plea Tuesday.

The funds were stolen from the Solvay Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization between January 2012 and November 2016.

The group raises funds to provide school programs such as field trips and assemblies.

About $7,000 of the money came from a fundraiser that sold chocolate.

The Camillus resident will get 16 weekends in jail if she repays all of the money at her March sentencing.

She will also spend 5 years on probation.
