Almost one year ago Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri announced that the sale of Hotel Utica was complete. The property was purchased by Andy Patel of Visions Hotel. The plans for renovation began immediately.

Almost one year to the date of the Mayor's big announcement, WIBX was invited inside to tour the selection of brand new room types and the changes are remarkable. The old rooms with dated style and a tube television have been transformed into a luxurious and spacious escape complete with a 50" flat screen in each.

Lee Arthur is the General Manager of the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Utica and he was kind enough to show us the four different options available to stay in Downtown. They include the regular two Queen or single King rooms, a two Queen corner room, a King studio suite, or the top-notch Executive King studio suite.

The elegant Executive King studio suites at Hotel Utica are actually going to be prototypes for other Double Tree Hiltons across the country. In those rooms will be a full workout area complete with weights and stationary bike wired for live spin classes.

We also got a private glimpse at the progress on the bar and restaurant area and those who knew it before are in for a nice surprise. Some of the newly renovated rooms will be available soon and it's only a matter of time before the full renovation is complete. The facelift to this historic Utica landmark is beyond belief.
