PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Federal safety investigators say a regional jet made an emergency landing in Philadelphia after smoke was reported in the cabin and the cockpit. Passengers evacuated on slides.

Airport spokeswoman Mary Flannery says the Piedmont Airlines flight had originated in Richmond, Virginia. She said no injuries were reported.

It was one of two emergency alerts at Philadelphia International Airport shortly after 8 a.m. Friday.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the second involved a Republican Airlines jetliner that had reported steering problems.

In that incident, Flannery says the pilot was able to resolve the problem and the landing did not require any emergency activity.

Authorities say both incidents involved Embraer aircraft.
