A new housing facility for women recovering from drug addiction is officially in operation.  The ribbon cutting for the new women’s treatment center for Fairview Recovery Services on Merrick Street, Binghamton was held Friday, September 30.

16 adults and 2 children can be housed at the facility.

Officials say having a facility where women can be treated without being separated from their children helps encourage women to get into rehabilitation.

The women in the program get treatment at New Horizons or the Addiction Center of Broome County.

The Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse is also giving Fairview a $1.7 million grant to create a recovery center to provide information on treatment and other programs.
