A fatal accident in the town of Madison has claimed the life of a man whom authorities are not yet identifying.

On Monday, December 23, 2013 at about 6:40pm Madison County Sheriffs reported to an accident near the intersection of Lake Morraine and West Hills Roads.  A passerby had reported seeing a vehicle off the road.

The vehicle was a mid-size pickup truck.  The driver, a white man approximately forty years old, was wearing his seat belt and appears to have been the only person in the car.

Sheriffs say it looks like he was driving south on Lake Morraine Road when the driver lost control of the car on what police describe as a slight curve.  The truck slid off the road and hit a tree on the grounds of the White Eagle Conference Center.  It appears that speed contributed to the accident.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Officer is scheduled to perform an autopsy.

Madison Ambulance, Hamilton Fire and Rescue, and New York State Police assisted Madison County Sheriffs.

Identification is pending family notification and a final accident report.
