Fatal Crash In Sylvan Beach

A Pennsylvania man is facing DWI and Vehicular Manslaughter charges following an accident that claimed the life of a Sylvan Beach teen.

State Police say 53-year old Gary Svecz hit 13-year old Neil Pedersen as he was riding his bike along Vienna Road in Sylvan Beach last night.

Troopers say Svecz left the scene and was pulled over by a volunteer fireman a short distance from the accident.

Pedersen was taken to Oneida City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Svecz was arraigned in Town of Floyd Court and sent to the Oneida County jail on $100,000 cash bail.

He'll be back in court next week for a felony hearing.
