There is only one survivor of a crash that took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 8, 2013.  Two people are dead.

20-Year old Tyler Laplante lost control of his car while trying to make a right-hand turn off of Vienna Road in the Town of Vienna just after 2:00am.  The car hit a tree and flipped.  One of the passengers, 22-year old Justin Didio of Oneida, was able to escape and call for help.

The car became engulfed by flames with the driver and another passenger still inside.  The other passenger is believed to be 21-year old Angelo Gonzalez, although positive identity is pending autopsy results.

State Police in Sylvan Beach and rescuers from the Village of Sylvan Beach put out the car fire.  Those inside the car, believed to be Laplante and Gonzalez, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting the autopsies.
