Fatal Crash Shuts Down Eastbound Thruway Lanes In Western NY

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say the eastbound lanes of the Thruway in New York's southwest corner are closed because of a fatal accident.

The Thruway Authority says the crash occurred around 4 a.m. Wednesday in Interstate 90's eastbound lanes between Exit 59 and Exit 58 near Dunkirk in Chautauqua County, 35 miles southwest of Buffalo.

The state police Thruway detail says troopers and emergency crews are at the scene. Troopers say there's at least one fatality, but no other details of the crash are immediately available.

All eastbound traffic is being diverted off the highway at Exit 59 at Dunkirk.
