Cause of Fatal Fire in Vestal Still Undetermined

Authorities say the cause of the fire that claimed the lives of a woman and three of her children May 21, 2015 may never be known.

Investigators say they have determined the early morning fire started on the front porch of the Tarbox family’s home on State Line Road in Vestal and spread through the rest of the house.

33-Year-old Nicole Tarbox, 3-year-old Mariah, 9-year-old Mya and 13-year-old Evyn died in the fire.

Shawn Tarbox, the patriarch of the family, was at work when the fire broke out. A 15-year old son was able to jump out of a window and alert authorities while another son was not home at the time.
