The father of 20-year-old race car driver Kevin Ward Jr.of Port Leyden is questioning the actions of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart that led to the death of his son last weekend.

Kevin Ward Sr. tells the Syracuse "Post-Standard" that the only reason his son probably got out of his car was because Stewart put him into the wall and that Stewart was apparently the only one driving out there who didn't see him.

Ward Sr. also said Stewart was the best driver by far on the track that night and there was no reason he had to go up as high as he did and hog his son.

Stewart's car hit and killed Ward Jr. during a dirt track race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

An investigation is ongoing but there are currently no criminal charges against Stewart.

Visitation for Kevin Ward, Junior is scheduled for this afternoon in Boonville.

His funeral will take place on Thursday.
