NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Five men have been charged and a quarter-million dollars has been seized in connection with what authorities say was a "retail heroin store" operating in a Hudson Valley city.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (http://bit.ly/2gYZsur ) that federal prosecutors say the suspects operated a storefront on Broadway in the city of Newburgh that purported to be a soccer shop and barbershop. Authorities say large amounts of heroin were being sold at the illegitimate business on a daily basis.

Prosecutors say state police and federal agents found a brick of what they believe is heroin stored behind the shop, and $250,000 in a storage unit used by the men.

The suspects, all from Newburgh, were charged Wednesday with narcotics conspiracy in federal court in White Plains.
