Clinton, NY (WIBX) - Crews are on the scene of a fire at the Old Carriage House Apartments in Clinton. The fire started at around 8:00 this morning in an upstairs apartment. Two people reportedly had to jump from a window to escape the flames.

Chief Mark Young with the Clinton Fire Department says the fire appeared to have started in the balcony area of the unit. "About 8:14 we got a call for a structure fire at the Old Carriage House Apartments ... there were reports of people trapped in their. Upon arrival, first units encountered heavy smoke and fire on the second floor there, it was up through the roof. When we got here all the occupants were out, apparently a couple of them jumped out of a back window into a pickup truck," he said.

The fire caused extensive damage to four units and 6 to 8 people have been displaced he says. The Red Cross has been contacted and reportedly working with the victims. The fire is under investigation.
