Fire At Sunset Woods Apartments In New Hartford [UPDATE]

The New Hartford fire department is currently on the scene of a fire at Sunset Woods Apartments on Genesee Street in New Hartford.

UPDATE: 8:00 p.m. The fire was quickly controlled, and evacuations were a precaution as crews worked to clear smoke from the building.

According to the Observer-Dispatch, the call came in at around 6:15 Wednesday evening that a fire had started on the fourth floor of the senior living apartments.

The building had to be evacuated and buses were called in to bring residents to a local church.

Several fire crews were put on standby to assist New Hartford fire crews.
