Rome, NY (WIBX) - The cause of a barn fire on Elmer Hill Road in Rome is still under investigation today.

According to Rome Fire Department Assistant Chief, Terrence Miller, the blaze was reported at 5:19 p.m. and by the time crews arrived seven minutes later, the barn was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews fighting the fire faced low water pressure, but were able to fully contain the fire by 6:50 p.m.

Miller says estimated losses total $100,000, including the barn, construction equipment stored inside and a show horse, valued at $20,000.

An unoccupied house close to the barn also suffered damage to its siding because of heat.

Fire crews from Lake Delta, Lee Center and Westernville assisted Rome in fighting the fire.
