SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York high school football team preparing for a playoff game has lost all of its equipment in a fire.

Schenectady Police Sgt. Matt Terry tells the Times Union of Albany (http://bit.ly/2ep9dD2 ) that a fire engulfed the field house early Friday at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons. The building was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived around 2:15 a.m. and investigators believe someone broke in and set the fire.

Head coach John Barber says all of the team's equipment was destroyed.

The football team at the school includes players from Bishop Gibbons, Spa Catholic and Central Catholic. The team, known as Holy Trinity, is expected to play Hoosic Valley in the Class C playoffs on Saturday. The playoff game is the first for the combined team.
