ORANGE PARK, Fla. (AP) — Firefighters are preparing to burn down a northeast Florida home where a 7-year-old girl was killed in 2009.

The Orange Park Fire Department and other agencies will set fire Thursday to the house where Somer Thompson was killed after being lured inside and sexually assaulted by a man, Jarred Harrell, who has since been convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

Thompson's body was found days after her death in a Georgia landfill.

The girl's mother, Diena Thompson, tells the Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1DiLHKY) she's happy someone else will not be able to buy the home and raise a family there.

Fire crews and other first responders will use the burning house in a live training exercise between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
