New York State recently approved the sale of somefireworks, but allowed each county to make the decision on whether they would allow fireworks to be sold within their borders. Madison County approved fireworks sales, and several pop-up fireworks stands have taken up residence in Oneida.

On a recent drive through town, tents selling fireworks were observed in the parking lot of Wal-Mart as well as the Glenwood Plaza. Another fireworks outlet set up shop in a vacant building between Tim Horton's and McDonald's on Route 5.
