Flash Flood Watch Extended In Upstate New York

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A flash flood watch has been extended in upstate New York, with several more inches of rain possible on Friday.

National Weather Service forecasters say a slow-moving storm system could continue to drench much of the Finger Lakes region and central New York all day.

The watch has been extended until 4 p.m. for Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tompkins and Yates counties. A similar flood watch also is in effect for Allegany, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Ontario, Oswego and Wayne counties.

Forecasters say the heaviest rain could produce 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short span of time.

In Syracuse, Hancock International Airport had 1.87 inches of rain on Thursday, and another 1.2 inches has fallen since midnight.
