The National Weather Service has issued Flood Warnings for the Susquehanna River at Conklin and Vestal until further notice and continues a Flood Warning for the Chenango River at Sherburne.

Recent rains have driven water levels up and the river levels have exceeded the flood stage at the locations in Vestal, Conklin and Sherburne but the flooding is minor and basically has the water flowing over the riverbanks.  No structures have been threatened.

Still, more rain is forecast for the region and a Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 a.m. April 8.

Residents are reminded to be aware of the water levels of rivers and tributaries as well as poor drainage areas and they should never try to drive or walk through areas where water is covering the roadway.  It takes very little water to sweep away a vehicle.
