Flooding Closes Area Roads

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Flooding in the area has caused a number of road closures.Genesee Street at the city line with New Hartford.

Utica Police say the Sauquoit Creek has crested and is overflowing.

Some homes will be evacuated.

New Hartford Police have closed the following roads in the Chadwicks area

Elm Street from Oneida Street to Route 8

Bleachery Place at Oneida Street

Hand Place off Oneida Street.

Meanwhile, due to flooding conditions in the Village of Ilion, Mayor John Stephens has declared a state of emergency until futher notice.

Residents are asked to stay off all streets in flooded areas.
